30 Day Book Challenge Day 15:

A Character Who You Can Relate to the Most

I believe one of the characters I relate to the most is Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter series. Like Neville, I was a late bloomer. I was no raging beauty at school. I was extremely shy and I was picked on a lot. I Neville Longbottom from Harry Pottergot along well with my immediate peers but I didn’t really form many close bonds. Also like Neville, I could never seem to do anything right.

I am now grown, married and have children of my own. Unlike Neville, my life experiences include several depressions, anxiety and a period of agoraphobia. However, like Neville, my life experiences have made me a stronger, braver, more competent member of society. Despite our fears, Neville and I both defeated our demons. Neville’s demons were external, flesh and blood. Mine were internal, but no less difficult to conquer.

When looking for a hero or role model, Neville Longbottom is too easily overlooked. I would not be disappointed if my children chose to emulate him.
