What Is To Come

While researching ideas for blog posts, I came across a bunch of articles on the importance of consistency and planning ahead. These may seem like fairly obvious concepts, and they really are. However, they are concepts that I have not been utilizing for Rafferty’s Rules. I have resolved within myself to make a concerted effort to change that fact, though.

Over the next month or so, I will be creating an editorial calendar which I will embed in either my sidebar or on a separate page (I haven’t decided which) so you, my loyal readers will have a better idea of what is coming up (and I won’t be stuck wondering what I will post today). That takes care of the planning ahead.

As for the consistency — well, I have already decided what type of post I will be posting on any given day. I have also decided to attach a theme to six months out of the year. So from now on my posts will look like this:

  • Monday: Chronicles, Scribbles, Visual Journal, Brag Book or Quotes
  • Tuesday: Top Ten Tuesday
  • Wednesday: Chronicles, Scribbles, Poems, Recipes, Jokes or Miscellany
  • Thursday: Chronicles, Scribbles, One-Liners, Impressions or Photographs
  • Friday: Fiction Friday

And the months will look like this:

  • January: Themed → Australia
  • February: No Theme
  • March: Themed → Different every year
  • April: No Theme
  • May: Themed → Different every year
  • June: No Theme
  • July: Themed → Different every year
  • August: No Theme
  • September: No Theme
  • October: Themed → Halloween
  • November: No Theme
  • December: Themed → Winter Holidays

You may notice that Chronicles and Scribbles are listed for three different days. This is because the topics of these posts are often time-sensitive, so I have reserved the slot just in case I need to use it. You will also notice that I am beginning a new recurring post theme — Fiction Friday. I haven’t had as much time to write as I might like, lately and I thought that by adding this to my blog, it will give me the excuse to be spending time on my writing.

I hope that is relatively clear to you guys. If you have any questions, just post them in the comments and I will get back to you.
