First off, let me apologise for not posting a story for Fiction Friday this week. I spent the morning travelling to the airport and, due to a delayed flight, the entire afternoon at the airport. By the time I arrived in Adelaide, I was simply too damn tired to write anything.
Anyway, I’ve been here a few days now. It’s been great seeing my mother, sister and brother-in-law. Today, Mum and I took the bus into Mt Barker. The route took us through Harndorf which seems like a pretty little town. I hope we get a chance to visit while we are here.
Anyway, while we were in Mt Barker we dropped into the Wallis Theatre to see The Shape of Water. Mum thought it was a bit so-so but I quite enjoyed it. Anybody who squicks at inter-species relationships probably shouldn’t see it, though.
After the movie, we did a bit of shopping. I managed to pick up a lovely top from Kmart for AUD$5 and a jumper for AUD$12. I had to get a men’s jumper because, apparently, larger ladies don’t get cold in South Australia.
Coming home was a bit of an adventure. There was a bit of confusion about which bus stop to use as well as which bus to catch because the number we had to catch sometimes has an express that doesn’t go near we are staying.
There was a very nice young couple, about eighteen years old, at the bus stop who were very helpful. They let us know we were in the right place and which bus to catch and chatted to us while we waited. They even helped us figure out where to get off. If, by some strange chance, you ever read this, I just want to say a huge thank you. Taking the bus in an unfamiliar place is always stressful and you made the experience far more pleasant.
Everybody here in SA is super friendly, even the cashiers. In Sydney, most of them look like they’d rather be broiled alive than serve the customers, but not here. It’s a nice contrast.
Well, that’s all for now folks. I’ll give you another update next Monday. Meanwhile, I will make every effort to publish Top Ten Tuesday and Fiction Friday on time. As always, I welcome your comments using the box below.
Have a great week.
