Once again I find I must begin with an apology. I missed Fiction Friday again this week, for the same reason as last time. My day was spent saying my goodbyes, flying home, unpacking and spending time with my family. I had neither the energy nor the inclination for blogging anything, let alone a story that was likely to take me an hour to write.
I should, hopefully, be able to post something this week. Unfortunately, I am unable to make any promises. It depends on how busy I am with cleaning out my home. You see, I have returned from holiday to a plethora of problems.
First, two of my children have had a flare up of ongoing health issues which I won’t go into here for privacy reasons. So, I have to deal with finding specialists willing to take them on which is proving to be a nightmare.
Then, another of my children also has some ongoing issues we may or may not be able to get help with. Again, I won’t go into what in respect of their privacy.
I also need to find time to see the doctor myself on two separate issues. First, I have a slightly raised red mark on my skin which I need to get checked. As my family has a history of Melanoma, it is important to get this done. Secondly, I haven’t had a period since before Christmas. Since I’m only forty and my name isn’t Mary, I figured I should probably get that checked out as well.
As if all that isn’t enough to deal with, it has been confirmed that we have bed bugs. So we have organised pest control to fumigate and we are currently attempting to locate a cheap dryer on Gumtree with someone willing to deliver since we don’t actually have hot water in our laundry.
Thus, we are faced with the nightmare of washing and drying everything we want to keep before leaving it all out in the sun for a few days and dumping everything else, all the while hoping and praying that it will be enough to rid us of the pests.
It seems that 2018 is shaping up to be not much better than 2017. Yay.
