Writing Exercise Responses (June 2021)

TRIGGER WARNING: Child death; car accident.

These are my responses to the writing exercises from our tenth Writing Apocalypse lecture. We were asked to write a few lines using two distinct voices. These are all completely raw, unpolished and unedited, and were written during the lecture in the small window of time allocated by the lecturer.

“Yeah, I saw it. Came speeding round the corner. Must’ve been doing at least a hundred. Dickhead. Poor kid didn’t stand a chance.”

“Yes, I saw it. The car was clearly well over the speed limit when it took that corner. I wouldn’t be surprised if the driver was drunk as well. They tried to brake but it was too late. What that poor mother must be going through!”
